Iowa Supreme Court blocks new waiting period for abortions – The Boston Globe

Governor Terry Branstad of Iowa signed a new state bill, on Friday, requiring a 72 hour waiting period for abortion procedures. However, less then 2 hours after the bill was signed, the Iowa Supreme Court blocked the new restrictions, allowing women to move forward with previously scheduled abortion procedures. The new bill would also outlaw most ‘abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy with no exceptions for rape, incest, or fatal fetal conditions.’
